Obesity in the
U.S.
The percentage of childhood obesity has
gone from 10% of children ages 6 to 19 in 1971, to 31% in 2000,
according the
American Obesity Association. There are many health effects
which occur as a result of childhood obesity; Asthma, Diabetes
(Type 2), Hypertension, Orthopedic Complications, Psychosocial
Effects & Stigma, and Sleep Apnea.
It is the responsibility of parents,
educational institutions, child-directed media, and other adult
influences to prevent this epidemic from continuing on this
increasing path. Lowering sugar intake, feeding children
all-natural foods and increasing exercise is a great way to
improve eating habits. Eat sushi and be healthy! |
